This two-part set represents the exhausts of the Merlin-powered P-51 Mustang fighter of World War Two and later, specifically the P-51B, P-51C, P-51D and P-51K. Shrouds are not included. The exhausts can be adapted to fit most 1/24 scale P-51 Mustang models. This set is intended for models of P-51 Mustangs operating with exhaust shrouds removed.
The set can also be adapted for some other Merlin-powered aircraft such as the Curtis P-40F.
A set of exhausts with shrouds is available separately.
These parts are an original 3D design based on authoritative 2D references and measurements made from a surviving Packard-bult V-1650-7 Merlin engine, the common powerplant of the P-51D Mustang (Mustang Mk.IV). The models are not 3D-printed copies of any plastic or resin kit's parts. Therefore, they may be sized, shaped and detailed differently than the parts in your kit. Depending on which kit you have, some adjustment to your kit's parts may be needed for best fit.
These parts are left- and right-handed. When installing your parts, position them so the side with the wider-spaced nuts is down.
Caution is recommended when cutting away the attachment sprue and when handling these parts. The exhausts are very thin.
