  • Trumpeter 1/24 scale P-51D Mustang / Mustang Mk.IV

This set of exhausts is specifically sized to better fit the Trumpeter kits' smaller-than-scale and incorrectly shaped cowling exhaust slots.  Some adjustment to your Trumpeter kit's cowling parts will be needed for best fit.  Compared to scans of original North American Aviation blueprints, the Trumpeter kit's slots' ends of are too rounded.  They will need to be enlarged for these 3D-printed exhausts to fit.

This two-part set represents the exhausts of the Packard V-1650 Merlin-powered P-51 Mustang fighter of World War Two and later, specifically the P-51B, P-51C, P-51D and P-51K.  The V-1650 was a Rolls Royce Merlin engine license-built in the United States by Packard Motor Car Company.

Packard-built Merlins were also fit to the P-51H Mustang, P-63 King Cobra, and P-40F Warhawk.  Packard-built Merlins were fit to many de Havilland Mosquito and Avro Lancaster aircraft built in Canada.

These parts are an original 3D design based on measurements made from a surviving Packard-bult V-1650-7 Merlin engine and scans of original North American Aviation blueprints available through AirCorpsLibrary.com. The Packard V-1650-7 was the common powerplant of the P-51D and P-51K Mustang (Mustang Mk.IV and CA-18 Mk.21).

A set of exhausts with shrouds is available separately (click here).

These parts are left- and right-handed.  When installing your parts, position them so the side with the wider-spaced nuts is down.

Caution is recommended when cutting away the attachment sprue and when handling these parts.  The exhausts are very thin.
