Sets of exhausts sized for the Trumpeter 1/24 scale P-51 Mustang kits are available separately.
This 4-part set represents the shrouded exhausts of the Merlin-powered P-51 Mustang fighter of World War Two and later, specifically the P-51B, P-51C, P-51D and P-51K. A set of P-51 Mustang exhausts without shrouds is available separately.
These parts are an original 3D design based on authoritative 2D references and measurements made from a surviving Packard-built V-1650-7 Merlin engine, the common powerplant of the P-51D Mustang (Mustang Mk.IV). References included scans of original North American Aviation blueprints available through AirCorpsLibrary.com. The models are not 3D-printed copies of any plastic or resin kit's parts. Therefore, they may be sized, shaped and detailed differently than the parts in your kit. Depending on which kit you have, some adjustment to your kit's parts may be needed for best fit.
These parts are left- and right-handed. When installing your parts, position them so the side with the wider-spaced nuts is down.
Caution is recommended when cutting away the attachment sprue and when handling these parts. The exhausts are very thin.
These parts are made of acrylic plastic. Acrylic plastic does not behave like injection-molded polystyrene plastic or other resins. Glues for polystyrene plastic, like "Testors Liquid Cement" or tube cement, will not work with acrylic plastic. Cyanoacrylate (CA) "super glue" is recommended.
