These models represent the fighting tops of the battleships USS Tennessee BB-43 and USS California BB-44 as they appeared from 1921 through 1934.  Their overall dimensions match drawings by noted naval historian and draughtsman Alan B. Chelsey.  Details were confirmed by careful study of photographs of the actual ships.  These fighting tops feature open shutters all around.  They are specific to USS Tennessee and USS California.  Fighting tops for other US Navy battleships were shaped differently.
 
Fighting tops as they appeared from 1935-1941 are available separately. 

When properly assembled, the bottom plate will be positioned slightly higher than the bottom of the fighting top.  See rendering in carousel.
