Scale: 1/64 (3/16 inch = 1 foot)
Set includes 2 carronades. Carriages not included.
These models represent the 1805-pattern 68-pounder carronades fit to early 19th Century Royal Navy ships-of-the-line such as 104-gun HMS Victory. Victory carried 2 of these weapons at Trafalgar, both on the forecastle. The models feature King George monograms. Click here to learn more about modeling these powerful weapons.
Carronades were first developed in Scotland at the Carron ironworks from which they get their name. They were sometimes referred to as "smashers". Carronades were designed to be a very powerful, short-range, anti-ship and anti-personnel weapon.
These models' scaled overall dimensions match drawings of the Carron 1805-pattern gun by noted naval historian C. Nepean Longridge as shown in "The Anatomy of Nelson's Ships".
