This model represents the large dome fit to the aft side of modernized Essex class aircraft carrier and Tarawa and Wasp class amphibious assault ship islands.  The dome protected an AN/SPN-35 radar antenna used as an aid to aircraft approach and landing.
 
If purchasing a Model Monkey 1/700 scale Essex class SCB island, you do not need this model.  A dome is included with your Essex class SCB island.  This model is offered here as a spare.
