These models represent the fighting tops of the battleships USS Tennessee BB-43 and USS California BB-44 in they originally appeared from about 1921-1934. Their overall dimensions match drawings made by Alan B. Chesley. Details were confirmed by careful examination of available photographs of the actual ships.
These fighting tops are designed with open shutters all around and are specific to USS Tennessee and USS California. Other fighting tops for ships of other classes are differently shaped.
