Set includes 4 cannons.  Carriages not included.

These models represent Blomefield 1790, 8.5 foot long-pattern 9-pounder cannons.  Famously known as the "Long Nines", these weapons were fit to early 19th Century Royal Navy warships and played a significant role during the Napoleanic Wars.  The celebrated 74-gun ships-of-the-line, such as HMS Vanguard, carried as many as 18 of these cannons, 14 on the quarterdeck and 4 on the forecastle.  Frigates, such as HMS Diana and those of the Apollo class, carried four 9-pounders, 2 on the quarterdeck and 2 on the forecastle.

Although there were minor variations among real cannons, these models' scaled dimensions and details match dimensions from tables published in "British Smooth-bore Artillery: a Technological Study to Support Identification, Acquisition, Restoration, Reproduction, and Interpretation of Artillery at National Historic Parks in Canada" by David McConnell.  Their details were matched to those of surviving cannon.  The models feature King George monograms.
