- Revell 1/32 scale P-51D-5 Mustang
- can be adapted to fit other 1/32 scale P-51B through P-51K Mustang models
- suitable for other Packard-built Merlin-powered aircraft such as the P-40F
- and more!
This 4-part set represents the shrouded exhausts of the Merlin-powered P-51 Mustang fighter of World War Two and later, specifically the P-51B, P-51C, P-51D and P-51K. A set of P-51 Mustang exhausts without shrouds is available separately (click here).
Caution is recommended when cutting away the attachment sprue and when handling these parts. The exhausts are very thin.
The set is optimized to fit the new-tool Revell P-51D-5 kit as direct replacements for the kit's solid exhaust parts. These exhausts are designed for a tight fit. They do not come with the locator tabs found on the back of the Revell kit's exhausts. This permits better adjustment of the exhausts and shrouds within the kit's engine panel exhaust slot for easier assembly. "Dry fitting" these parts (test fitting without glue) is essential for best fit.
These parts are an original 3D design based on authoritative 2D references and measurements made from a surviving Packard-built V-1650-7 Merlin engine, the common powerplant of the P-51D Mustang (Mustang Mk.IV). The models are not 3D-printed copies of any plastic or resin kit's parts. Therefore, they may be sized, shaped and detailed differently than the parts in your kit. Depending on which kit you have, some adjustment to your kit's parts may be needed for best fit.
These parts are left- and right-handed. When installing your parts, position them so the side with the wider-spaced nuts is down.
These parts are made of acrylic plastic. Acrylic plastic does not behave like injection-molded polystyrene plastic or other resins. Glues for polystyrene plastic, like "Testors Liquid Cement" or tube cement, will not work with acrylic plastic. Cyanoacrylate (CA) "super glue" is recommended.
